The Biocenter is a new central building at the core of the area, on the Albertov axis. The main motif is the reflection of the inspiring principles of the existing most prominent building - the Purkyně Institute. The form innovatively accentuates other diverse nuances of the place - unfinished streets, corner risalits/dominants, a medieval non-parallel wall defining the plot, which is reflected in the mass division of the design. The classic block with a courtyard is fragmented in the transverse and longitudinal axis - the entrances are located in the resulting illuminated gaps. The facade itself is sculpturally classical, minimalist, and is the essence of Albertov architecture. The research at the Biocenter will focus on understanding living systems for human health needs and new biotechnologies. The building will include laboratories (chemical, biochemical, BSL3, for working with genetically modified organisms, for working with pathogens, animal facilities, etc.), offices, seminar and lecture rooms, congress halls, libraries, cafes, administration, and technical facilities, etc.
